St. Croix, USVI, February 12, 2016 – Diageo USVI is looking for a few home town triathletes to sponsor and cheer on at the 28th Annual Ironman 70.3 St. Croix race this coming May. The first 15 St. Croix residents to sign up for the event who are 18 years of age or older will have their registration fees covered by the company.
Colman Hanna, vice president of operations for Diageo USVI, said, “The Ironman 70.3 St. Croix Triathlon is a fantastic opportunity for our local top athletes, especially aspiring triathletes, to compete in this test of physical and mental strength. We’re rooting for a hometown hero to keep the winner’s trophy right here on St. Croix.”
St. Croix, USVI – June 26, 2015 – Diageo USVI has welcomed four interns to its rum distillery for six to eight weeks this summer as part of the company’s community engagement focus on Education & Workforce Development. College students will work in a number of rum production and quality control areas, developing and enhancing valuable technical skills.
“We are very excited to bring junior and senior college students into our facility for what we expect to be a rewarding experience,” said Diageo USVI HR Manager, Rhoda Rojas.
St. Croix, USVI – August 12, 2015 – Diageo USVI announced today that it is investing $150,000 in the University of the Virgin Islands Process Technology program, a part of the College of Science and Mathematics. The funds will be awarded as $50,000 annual grants over three years, with a plan to review the investment at the end of the term for renewal.
“One of the core four focus areas for our community engagement is Education & Workforce Development,” explained Colman Hanna, vice president of operations at Diageo USVI. Colman assumed leadership of Diageo’s St. Croix distillery last fall and is looking to increase focus on internship and similar programs. “We believe the University of the Virgin Islands Process Technology program is an excellent source for talented employees for the Territory.”
Diageo USVI C.A.R.E.’s, an employee group at Diageo USVI, invites all USVI residents to join them at the Nemecio “Mecio” Camacho III Bowl for Charity on Sunday, March 22. The annual event honors their fellow employee and friend who died tragically in March 2012 at 23 years old. Camacho was a bowler himself, having worked his way into competitive bowling by age 10.
In recognition of Veterans Day and in honor of military servicemen and servicewomen, the Captain Morgan Visitor Center is pleased to offer complimentary tours throughout the month of November for veterans of United States military branches, including active duty, retired, National Guard members, reservists and their immediate family members. The Visitor Center will be open each weekday during normal business hours, 9am to 5pm, but closed on Tuesday, November 11 in observance of the holiday. The last tour each day begins at 4pm.
One of the greatest athletic races returns to St. Croix on Sunday, May 4, 2014, and Captain Henry Morgan will be at the finish line. Long considered one of the classic races in the sport, the “Captain Morgan Ironman 70.3 St. Croix Triathlon” is expected to draw over 600 entrants including some of the world’s most elite athletes. The event is hosted by Project St. Croix, a non-profit organization founded by the late Betty Sperber in the 1980s to promote the island of St. Croix.
Diageo USVI and Bellows International are once again teaming with the VI Taxicab Commission and Taxis in Unity to present the sixth annual Captain Morgan Safe Rides Shuttle for the St. Thomas Carnival. The Captain Morgan Safe Rides Shuttle promotes celebrating responsibly by providing complimentary safe rides for adults 18 and older.
Diageo USVI, makers of Captain Morgan rum products, announced today the graduation of the third class of students from its Learning Skills for Life™ program, which began in 2010. The innovative workforce development program provided more than 250 hours of training to a total of 24 students between September and December of last year.
